The Employee Relations Manager position requires an individual who has significant employee relations experience, deep subject matter expertise, and strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. These competencies will enable the individual to work independently to successfully manage a broad spectrum of ER issues and collaborate with employees and partners across Amazon’s wide geographic and cultural scope.
Central Objectives

- Support that objective through proactive and reactive responsibilities.
- Partner with senior managers and People Experience & Technology teams to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices.
- Facilitate employee listening sessions, focus groups, and design and deliver training programs.
- Work with large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data to identify root causes, recognize patterns, and develop creative, innovative solutions for complex problems, and develop effective executive‑level messaging, reports and presentations to PXT and business leaders.
- Work proactively to enhance the employee experience by identifying and addressing employee concerns early, de‑escalating and resolving workplace issues before they reach a level of criticality requiring reactive efforts.
- Act as project manager on proactive initiatives that improve employee relations and engagement.
- On a reactive basis, undertake a significant amount of work on critical employee relations issues that are highly sensitive and typically require limited time to complete.
- Balance time between proactive efforts and urgent response.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and oversee employee relations and vulnerability assessment programs.
- Analyze, diagnose, design, and revise people programs, policies, and practices to sustain positive employee relations.
- Define and develop the existing arrangements for collective consultation and communication in compliance with UK Employment Law and Amazon ER policies.
- Act with sense of urgency, a bias for action, and desire to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Conduct reviews of employment policies to ensure alignment with Amazon’s objectives and compliance with employment law.
- Take ownership and play a supporting role in significant ER projects.
- Participate in national and international projects.
Travel & Location
This is a full‑time position that requires some travel, up to 30% of the time over the course of the year mainly in the UK and Ireland but occasionally in Europe. Due to the nature of the travel, the base location is flexible within the UK.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in employee relations, functional human resources, or labor/employment law.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, law degree, or other specialized training in employee relations is a significant plus.
- Experience and solid understanding of UK employment and labor laws.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite systems including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling partnership and collaboration across management levels and personalities to influence senior leadership, stakeholders, peers, and employees at all levels across a large, dispersed, and culturally diverse organization.
- Proven problem‑solving and analytical skills in an ambiguous environment with the capacity to work autonomously to manage competing priorities simultaneously while driving projects to closure.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate complex, international organizational structures.
