The Eastern Green Link 5 (EGL 5) project will connect Scotland and England bringing enough clean power for 2 million homes. As Lead Project Manager you will manage the project to time and budget, hitting key milestones along the way. You will use your proficiency to deliver and manage your scope on the project as you see fit and the lessons learnt from your work will be shared across the wider business. This will involve project management responsibilities, ensuring smooth project execution and successful delivery of the design and development of the onshore aspects of the project.

You’ll be joining a compact but growing team, likely to double in size in the next year. If you like getting in at the beginning of great things, this is for you. You’ll report into the Manager for Capital Delivery who’ll support you in any development and training to progress through the National Grid Project Management framework too. This role is hybrid based with team members across England, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. Leveraging this hybrid working, this team currently get together around twice per month, which is dependent on personal and business needs. We have offices across the UK. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

What You'll Do

  • You’ll manage the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) supplier to ensure safety by design of the onshore aspects of the EGL 5 scheme. Monitoring and controlling the budget you’ll resolve any contractual issues in a timely manner.
  • Managing project budgets and building an accurate forecast spend profile for the project you’ll participate in contract and project meetings and support the Senior Project Manager in maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Externally you’ll attend meetings and public consultation events and ensuring that feedback is fed into design through a robust design change process.

What You'll Get

  • A competitive starting salary between £61,000 – £75,000 dependent on capability plus a non-performance based additional supplement of £4,500 p.a, paid monthly
  • As well as your base salary and market supplement, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%
