Role overview
As a lead risk modeller within the Hastings lending business, you will be taking a leading role in utilising cutting-edge data assets and advanced modelling & analytical tools to shape and drive pricing & credit risk management strategies which improve business profitability and customer outcomes. You will be working closely with colleagues across the lending team to deliver data-led solutions for strategic and tactical business opportunities and risks as well drive competitive advantage in the marketplace
This is a hands-on role with an opportunity to be part of a fast-growing, dynamic business within Hastings, underpinned by an entrepreneurial culture and the ability to make a tangible contribution to its continued growth and success.

- Your remit will be to continuously improve business profitability and customer outcomes by:
- Developing analytical and modelling solutions to identify and manage customer risk across our credit and pricing strategies
- Driving data-led decision automation across the customer lending journey
- Maintaining a resilient portfolio risk mix to support long-term growth
- Build and manage key performance indicator and customer segmentation monitoring, ensuring alignment with business trading targets and risk appetite thresholds
- Providing strategic analysis and insights for Senior Management Committee and Board to inform business planning and decision making
- Acting as an analytical & modelling SME within the lending business
Essential skills/experience:
- This role is very modelling focused so experience undertaking predictive modelling, utilising model types such as GLM and GMB is required.
- As a result, you will also need strong Python/ R and SQL coding capability.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Good Communication skills with the ability to position solutions and results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Financial Services product experience particularly in a pricing and/or risk modelling capacity. This could come from banking, FinTech or Insurance.
