The Group Legal team sits at ITV plc level and provides specialist advice and support to the business (including to the Studios and Media & Entertainment divisions) in connection with general commercial and operational matters; corporate transactions; data protection; litigation; technology; and compliance, competition and regulatory matters.

The role…

Our busy, dedicated legal team are currently looking for an expert commercial Legal Advisor to join the team on a permanent contract basis. Reporting to our Director of Corporate & Legal Affairs, you will provide commercial legal advice and support to various ITV Group teams, including Procurement, Finance, HR and Strategy on both operational matters and group-wide projects. The role focuses primarily on drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, primarily third-party supplier agreements. You will also be responsible for maintaining Group Legal’s commercial precedents and playbooks and delivering training as required to key collaborators and other ITV Legal & Business Affairs teams. As part of the Group Legal team, you will also have the opportunity to support the wider team on corporate, technology and contentious matters.

Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Providing strategic and commercially driven legal advice to ITV Group teams.
• Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts.
• Maintaining group-wide precedents and playbooks.
• Collaborating with the Head of Transformation (Group Legal) to implement and lead a contract lifecycle management tool for Group Legal matters.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

• You must be a solicitor qualified in England and Wales with a minimum 2 years PQE acquired in private practice or in-house.
• You require extensive commercial law expertise and experience gained in a credible private practice firm or in-house legal team.
• Ability to work independently to provide strategic and commercially driven legal advice and recommendations to senior partners across the group.

• Ability to exercise sound analytical judgment to assess risk.
• Ability to work proactively and collaboratively with various teams across ITV (including Procurement, Compliance, Insurance, Finance, Tax, HR, Cyber, Brand Protection, Group Strategy and Comms).
• Excellent communicator who can develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
• Ability to handle contending priorities and a multifaceted workload involving teams and senior collaborators across ITV.
• Excellent organisation, time management and matter leadership skills.
• Experience delivering legal training and crafting and maintaining precedent documentation and mentorship.
