Overview

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are supporting a Local Authority seeking an experienced Procurement & Contracts Lawyer to assist with the implementation of the Procurement Act 2023 and support major commercial projects. This locum role is 30 hours per week, outside IR35, with hybrid working.

Role Details

• Position: Locum Procurement & Contracts Lawyer
• Location: Hybrid working – Office attendance negotiable
• Hours: 30 hours per week (flexible pattern considered)
• Rate: Competitive hourly rate – Outside IR35
• Duration: Initial 3 months, with a strong possibility of extension

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal leadership on the roll-out and practical implementation of the Procurement Act 2023
• Advise on and draft commercial contracts relating to major ongoing and upcoming projects
• Work closely with procurement, legal and project teams to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risk
• Support internal stakeholders with training and strategic legal advice around procurement reform
• Ensure good governance and commercial value in all contractual arrangements

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent)
• In-depth knowledge of public procurement law and commercial contracts
• Experience advising on complex or high-value public sector projects
• Familiarity with the evolving public procurement landscape and legislative reform
• Local government experience is advantageous but not essential
