Overall role purpose

This role sits within the International Business Support Function (IBSF). The function supports member firms strategically to help pursue and win international opportunities across key stages of the international client journey, creating an improved member firm, client and pursuit experience.

Key areas of focus within the pursuit support focus of IBSF include

  • Support member firms in responding to international opportunities
  • Create and own material to support member firms through the international client journey – awareness, consideration, proposal, purchase, retention and growth.
  • Contribute to growing and promoting a go‑to‑market resource library on the IBSF intranet and ProposalHub
  • Support member firm partners and teams during the pursuit process with best‑practice strategic advice.

Main responsibilities

Strategic support

  • Manage the opportunity pipeline and focus on driving growth through proactive engagement with a range of stakeholders.
  • Build awareness of support available around the pursuit cycle; generate demand through engagement with key communities.
  • Access and drive pursuit feedback and insight sharing/analysis, advising on best practice to identify recurring themes and action points.
  • Identify opportunities for co‑creation of solutions/ideas with IBSF leaders or other global teams.
  • Engage and build relationships with enablers across GTIL (NCT, IBC, etc.) to support growth initiatives.
  • Support and develop senior associates in maintaining and expanding information regarding member firms’ capabilities, key facts, rate cards, etc., briefing and collaborating with the outsourced Hub support team as needed.
  • Critically review documents, placemats and templated slides created by the pursuit content team to ensure they meet the needs of international pursuits.
  • Identify and fill any information gaps by collaborating with the pursuit content team and necessary stakeholders.
  • Seek firms’ feedback to continually optimise the process around IBSF and GTIL support to major international opportunities.

Knowledge management

  • Address ad hoc stakeholder queries, helping them to locate required information and access technology platforms.
  • Work with the pursuit content team to design an evolved approach to producing international client references, case studies and richer credentials.
  • Collaborate with the policy and data team to track, analyse and report on opportunities and projects.
  • Work in line with the defined information governance framework.

Pursuits

  • Act as a central point of contact globally for global pursuits by working with lead member firms on large and complex cross‑border opportunities, providing best‑practice advice and guidance.
  • Advise, coordinate and convene global proposal teams to support lead firms to win international business; participate and provide constructive feedback on pitch rehearsals and post‑proposal reviews.
  • Monitor and track pursuit progress and report to the IBSF Pursuit Support Associate Director.
  • Work with the central support team to gather and utilise requested proposal‑specific data from member firms across the network and share insights gained from this data.
  • Gain input from stakeholders across the network to address barriers to collaboration around international business.
  • Support the execution of policies pertaining to pursuit best practice.

People

  • Help build the professional reputation of the IBSF.
  • Build a personal network with the International Business Centre community, BD and pursuits specialists, and internationally active partners, directors and managers from across Grant Thornton.
  • Proactively collaborate with GTIL teams including Communications, Network Capabilities, Brand, Digital Marketing and service lines.
  • Identify opportunities for the International Business Support Function to provide added value to the global network and member firms.
  • Work in line with our values and international culture charter.
  • Support the development of junior members of the team.
  • Collaborate across the IBSF to build visibility of the community of network contacts involved in international business.

Person specification

  • Educated to degree level or holding a professional marketing qualification such as CIM.
  • Demonstrable experience in a marketing / BD role.

Experience Essential

  • Strong relationship‑building skills across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to contribute effectively to a team.
  • Experience managing large, cross‑border proposals in professional services or a similar environment; coaching senior colleagues is an asset.
  • Self‑starter with the ability and confidence to develop and implement own projects and workload.
  • Solid project management experience and ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to create compelling and clear communications.
  • Good organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Experience and ease working with technology systems (content/knowledge management systems) in marketing roles.
  • Experience in a financial, business‑to‑business or professional services environment.
