The Role
Our client are looking for a brand-new Market Development Manager to join their UK sales team as a result of an internal promotion. This is a standalone sales role with no people management where you are accountable for your output and the growth of three existing core markets which have been built up over the last six years, and to strategically target & grow new market sectors which suit this organisations offerings. The Market Development Manager will be selling an array product identification solutions which are connected through software to offer real time tracking & traceability for clients as well as AIDC capabilities specifically for Wire & Cable identification applications across all areas of business.
Your role will be to strategically map out how your clients buy and build a solution that fits that model and also works for you. A big focus here is on the end-user, getting the solution specified in, approved, and written into framework agreement with a view to either setting up a distribution chain or going direct. The end-user contact will be focused on the current core markets for this business which are: Telecommunications, Data Centers, and Wire Harness Manufacturers across the UK. However, the biggest part of this job is holistically growing new verticals where you see opportunity through targeted, strategic, market mapping and development through business development activities.
The Market Development Manager will have complete autonomy to run the role as though it were their own. Supported by Marketing & Sales Support in the UK and Europe, the Market Development Manager will report directly to the Sales Director for the UK and manage their own diary, workload, and set their own sales strategy. The Market Development Manager will work on a project by project basis, with sales cycles usually being around 2-12 months in length. You will be able to support your client’s requirements when it comes to scanning technology, understand what they’re looking to achieve, and offer solutions off the back of it. This is a very consultative, technical sales role which covers many sectors in the manufacturing, construction, and industrial spaces.

- Have a high-level, strategic sales approach with both end users & distributors
- A track record of developing, and executing, new business development across new markets
- Have a history of business development
- Good tenures in organisations showing evidence of business development success
- A confident team player who wants to earn & have a long career
- A structured sales methodology
- Clean driving license
Salary
Up to £65k Basic salary DOE + 30% OTE (can be doubled on overachievement) + Car + pension + 21 days holiday (rises to 25 with length of service), chance to purchase additional days holiday + laptop/mobile
