About the Role

Mercor is seeking a Materials Scientist (PhD) to join an hourly contractor team. Remote and fully asynchronous work environment. Compensation $75–$85/hr.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate asynchronously with a team of highly qualified experts in Material Science.
• Craft, solve, and review challenging problems with real-world applicability.
• Shape the future of AI innovation by contributing domain expertise in Semiconductor Materials and Molecular Modeling.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.
• Engage in a fully remote and asynchronous work environment with potential for increased hours and extension.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Material Science from a top US university.
• Experience coding in Python and MATLAB for projects or research.
• Field-specific experience in Semiconductor Materials and Molecular Modeling.
• High attention to detail.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent proficiency in English.
• Currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia.
