Salary: £36,909

Location: Hybrid – Central London (2 days a week in office)

Join The Bar Council, the voice of barristers in England and Wales, as a Media Officer on a 12-month contract.

You’ll help shape how the organisation communicates with members, the media, and the public. Ideal for someone from a journalism or professional services communications background, this role involves writing compelling stories, managing media engagement, and supporting campaigns that highlight the work of the Bar.

You’ll need strong writing skills, an understanding of media relations, and the ability to turn complex legal content into engaging copy. Experience in a membership or legal environment would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Write compelling stories and material that communicates the Bar Council’s work to members, the media, and the public.
• Manage media engagement and support campaigns that highlight the Bar’s activities.

Qualifications

• Strong writing skills and a good understanding of media relations.
