Job Description
The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective/efficient running of our flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and our wider business. You will be joining a MEICA team helping to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of our crucial assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment; which will have an increasingly important role as we face the challenge of global climate change. You will be working closely with external contractors to develop a world class asset management organisation. The role will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards, and for monitoring the quality and advising on the requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across geographic areas with a diverse range of assets.
Responsibilities
- Provide strong technical leadership to ensure MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements are met across multiple assets/geographic areas.
- Lead on safety investigations, disseminate learning to drive improvements in engineering and behavioural safety.
- Share technical MEICA advice and design to support effective, safe, and efficient MEICA activity.
- Collaborate with external contractors and internal partners; liaise with a wide range of business partners; act as technical leader on MEICA activity; support incident response.
Experience/Skills / Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering related statutory legislation, British and European standards.
- Experience leading safety investigations and disseminating learning to improve engineering and behavioural safety.
- Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, writing and reviewing technical specifications.
- Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate Mechanical discipline.
- Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
- Role specific professional membership: I-Eng or C-Eng preferred but not essential.
