HAUS Careers is seeking a highly skilled MEP Design Manager to lead and coordinate the mechanical, electrical, and public health design across a portfolio of innovative office conversions and hotel/residential schemes in Central London.

This is a rare opportunity to shape highly serviced buildings, ensuring that all MEP systems are integrated, compliant, and tailored to the unique demands of hospitality-led developments.

The MEP Design Manager Role

As MEP Design Manager, you’ll oversee the full MEP design lifecycle across multiple projects—from concept through to handover. You’ll lead coordination between internal teams and external consultants to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and future-proofed building services solutions that align with operational and design ambitions.

Your work will span complex services integration, design risk management, regulatory compliance, and value engineering within transforming old buildings into vibrant hospitality and residential environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end MEP design process for multiple projects, including hotel conversions and residential developments.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all MEP-related matters, ensuring alignment with project scope, programme, and design intent.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and design consultants to ensure integrated and efficient building services design.
  • Oversee and review MEP consultant outputs — including drawings, specifications, and calculations — ensuring compliance with relevant British Standards and hospitality regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance on HVAC, electrical, public health, and fire protection systems.
  • Drive value engineering solutions without compromising performance or guest comfort.
  • Ensure MEP designs meet all building control, health and safety, and energy compliance requirements.
  • Manage the interface between MEP design and construction delivery, supporting site teams during installation and commissioning.
  • Support planning and permitting processes by liaising with statutory bodies and local authorities.
  • Champion the adoption of sustainable and energy-efficient technologies, in line with ESG goals.
  • Maintain clear and organised documentation across all MEP packages and project phases.

About You

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an MEP Design Manager or Building Services role within a developer, main contractor or consultancy setting.
  • Proven experience delivering MEP coordination for hospitality, residential or commercial projects.
  • Degree-qualified in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline.
  • Deep technical understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including current UK standards and regulations.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and teams, delivering to tight programmes and budgets.
  • Comfortable leading consultant design teams and interfacing with senior stakeholders.
  • Able to interpret architectural drawings and integrate MEP solutions accordingly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive, organised, and collaborative, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Salary between £75,000 – £90,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Central London location with hybrid working flexibility
  • Opportunity to lead landmark hospitality and residential projects
  • Collaborative and forward-thinking company culture
