The Alta Video mobile software team develops native mobile apps, with potential exposure to cross-stack technologies.
Job Description
This is a hybrid role requiring work from our London offices during part of the week. We are looking for a passionate and experienced mobile developer to help develop native iOS and Android apps, using Swift with SwiftUI and Kotlin with Compose, respectively. Experience with these technologies is preferred but not required. If you care about creating great user experiences, writing solid and maintainable code, and continuously improving existing code, you could be a great fit.
Our apps include a wide range of technically challenging features that you will help shape and improve:
- Rendering high resolution video in a performance-critical environment.
- Working with large volumes of data in a performant way.
- Designing and implementing new UI components.
- Investigating and improving performance and scalability as new features are added.
Responsibilities
- Write high-quality code with creativity and passion.
- Conceptualise, design and implement new functionality in close collaboration with product management, designers, and frontend and backend developers.
- Improve current processes and tools.
- Stay up to date with latest developments in design and technology, and propose short- and long-term solutions.
At Avigilon Alta, involvement may include cross-stack opportunities (e.g., web applications using Vue and TypeScript, Go-based tools).
Basic Requirements
While not all listed skills are required, they are useful:
- Experience as a software developer.
- Experience building mobile applications for iOS, Android, or both.
- Experience with a modern mobile language such as Kotlin or Swift.
- Passion for writing high-quality code and outstanding technical ability.
- Ability to design and implement new functionality in collaboration with product, UX, and backend teams.
- Interest in improving maintainability, performance, and security of the application.
- Willingness to stay up to date on technology and suggest improvements.
- Ability to contribute ideas to help improve the product and development process.
- Proficiency in English and good communication.
We expect you to be proactive, take ownership, and have room to explore new technologies. You should be a team player who enjoys solving complex problems and can work autonomously while learning from teammates as needed.
