The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low-carbon electricity for around six million homes.
We are looking for an Operational Development Engineer within the Operations Procedures Team, in the Operations Department at HPC.
As an Operational Development Engineer, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in preparing the site for the world-class performance of the next generation of pressurised water reactors in the UK.
Your role will involve authoring, updating, and reviewing operations procedures and documents, understanding their links with safety case requirements, Technical Specifications, and relevant nuclear site licence conditions. You will work with Main Control Room operators to validate procedures using our full-scope simulator and analyze Design Changes to assess their impact.
You will be part of a diverse and dedicated team helping to shape future operations at HPC.
Pay, Benefits & Culture
The salary range for this role is from £55,000 per annum. What You’ll Be Doing
You will ensure a smooth transition from construction to operation by understanding inputs into our procedures and ensuring compliance with safety case, Technical Specifications, Design Changes, Human Factors, nuclear site licence conditions, and end-user feedback.
You will build relationships with stakeholders to resolve technical queries and analyze Design Changes' impact on operations documents. Your tasks include authoring, reviewing, and updating procedures related to Normal Operations, Fault Operations, Severe Accident operations, or Technical Specifications, depending on your skills and experience.
Post-commissioning, opportunities will exist to support safe, reliable operations within or outside the Operations Procedures Team, with your experience supporting further career development within the operational organization.
Who You Are
You are proactive, analytical, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. You have experience developing and reviewing technical information and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
You hold an HNC or equivalent in a relevant technical field.
Ideally, you have experience in authoring, updating, and reviewing operations documents, procedures, and Technical Specifications in the nuclear industry.
