We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Operations & Governance Manager to provide core administrative, financial, and governance support across Gower Power (GP) and Gower Regeneration Ltd (GRL).
This role acts as a central hub, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, business planning, accurate financial coordination, and effective communication between directors, partners, investors, and stakeholders.
This is a hands-on and varied role requiring a strong sense of initiative, attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple workstreams independently. The role has no fixed office base, and a variable time commitment, resulting in an average workload of 10 hours per week which will need to be worked flexibly in response to external demands.This job description reflects the required duties which funding is available to cover at this time.The board would be open to the post-holder exploring opportunities to expand the role, if they wish to do so.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Governance, Business Planning and Secretarial Support:
- Act as Company Secretary for GP and GRL, maintaining statutory records and ensuring compliance with the Financial Conduct Authority (e.g., AR30 submissions)
- Redraft business plans for future share offers and funding bids for our associated companies
- Work with our accountants and partners to review performance and update business plans
- Prepare board meeting agendas, papers and minutes (monthly for GP, quarterly for GRL).
- Provide reports, updates and recommendations to inform board decisions.
- Coordinate and support AGMs, special meetings, and investor communications.
- Manage investor relations including registers, communications, withdrawals and probate requests.
- Liaise with our asset manager for Brynwhilach solar farm (Bright Renewables) and with GRL´s bookkeeper for Killan solar farm to coordinate quarterly management accounts, annual accounts, and forecasts.
- Review and process invoices, submit and authorise payments for GP and its project companies.
- Submit Feed in Tariff/export data and Ofgem declarations for renewable energy generation
- Provide financial documentation to our asset manager and GRL´s bookkeeper for accounting purposes.
Operations & Contracts:
- Oversee contracts, assets, and partnerships for GP and GRL.
- Instruct our asset manager on invoicing for current and future contracts.
- Manage insurance, H&S compliance, and project documentation for both organisations.
- As line manager support our Grants & Development Officer in their role.
- Manage communications and relationships with board members.
- Act as key point of contact between GP’s board, our asset manager and also with landowners/agents at project sites.
- Attend and support monthly Technical and Finance subgroup meetings (GP).
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
- Handle general enquiries from members, media, funders, and networks.
- Manage our website, social media channels and activities
- Engage with potential partners and funders to develop new opportunities
Project Oversight:
- Respond to operational issues and ad-hoc challenges (“firefighting”) as they arise and as appropriate, within GP, CET and GRL.
- Monitor performance for two solar photovoltaic rooftop installations.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Proven experience in operations, project coordination or business administration.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
- Strong understanding of company governance and compliance (or willingness to learn).
- Comfortable working with financial documents, budgets, and accounts.
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with boards, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage diverse responsibilities.
·Experience in the renewable energy sector
·Experience in the community energy or wider third sector.
·Experience with accountancy software or liaison with finance teams/accountants.
·Experience managing part-time or remote staff.
·Knowledge of working in the devolved policy context of Wales.

Remuneration:
This is a part-time position requiring an average of 10 hours per week, with an annual salary of £35,000 pro rata; paid pro rata annual leave equivalent to a full time (37.5 hours pw) entitlement of 25 days per year and all statutory bank holidays; and employer’s pension contribution of at least 3% per annum. The role is to be worked remotely, with a focus on results and outcomes. In addition, we offer a supportive and collaborative work environment where you’ll play a vital role in driving the organisation's mission forward.

Gower Power is a Community Benefit Society which aims to develop and manage community-owned renewable energy projects that deliver environmental, social, and economic benefits. Our objectives include promoting sustainability (particularly sustainable energy solutions), reducing carbon emissions, and supporting local communities.
Gower Regeneration is the owner of Wales’ first community-owned solar farm (Killan), and co-owner of Gower Electric Co, one of the UK’s first local renewable energy tariffs.
Over the last 10 years, Gower Power has gained a reputation in Swansea and the South-West Wales region for supporting innovation and community action promoting sustainability.We have been instrumental in developing a number of exciting community projects, including Gower Regeneration and Gower Electric Co. In 2023 Gower Power launched a successful community share offer and completed the purchase of Brynwhilach Solar Farm which has an installed capacity of 4.99MW, generating 4.8GWh per year. The income from this will help benefit the local environment and people by creating funding for other local clean energy projects and community initiatives.To date, small grants we have distributed arising from the sale of community-owned solar energy have gone to support community food growing, enhance biodiversity and tackle poverty and isolation.
Gower Power is part of Community Energy Together, a collaboration of five societies with seven solar farm assets that have been cross-collaterally financed.
