Are you passionate about making a positive difference in children and families lives?
We are seeking to recruit to join the Stronger Families Team (SFT). This is a unique opportunity to work within a dedicated multi professional team to meet the needs of children, young people and families in a strength based, family focussed approach.
The Stronger Families Team formed in 2022 are a non-statutory support service providing targeted and creative support to children and family members in crisis, where there is risk of breakdown to improve outcomes and support more children and young people to live / remain living safely at home and in their communities. This aligns with our practice standards and the direction of travel for Nottinghamshire considering the Families First Partnership Programme and the Nottinghamshire adolescence offer.
These positions have been created to support the Central and North of Nottinghamshire as well as being part of the countywide service offer. Our service expansion will provide exciting opportunities for a new team manager, two new parent and family workers, two new youth work and SWSO role to join this service and further develop our offer to families and young people both at the edge of care and stabilising / supporting their existing care plans.
This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with parents, carers and families, helping to build positive connections, resilience, and practical skills during a time of change and innovation within the service. The role requires working flexibly with families to provide specialist parenting support. You will use evidence-based parenting techniques informed by trauma-informed practice, child development, and attachment theory. This will involve assessing family needs, supporting positive relationships, and helping carers develop practical strategies to manage challenging or risky behaviours. You will be expected to respond to changing family circumstances and work closely with colleagues and other agencies to deliver a coordinated, child-focused service.
You will provide hands-on, empathetic support, working alongside families to address challenges, build strengths, and improve wellbeing. You will be a vital link between families and other professionals, ensuring a coordinated, family-centred approach. You’ll bring creativity and warmth to your work, helping families explore new ways of connecting and coping, and supporting them through change. Your role will be flexible, responsive, and focused on making a real, positive difference.
You will be able to demonstrate a breadth of knowledge and experience and ideally have experience of working within the strengths-based practice framework. You will be motivated, committed, and passionate about making a difference to the lives of children, young people and families.
