Details:

Senior Safeguarding Practitioner 18.5 hours for 3 month period

This is an adults Safeguarding Role
Hybrid working

Essential:
• Experience of directing enquiries into adult safeguarding issues.
• Has chaired adult safeguarding meetings.
• Practical experience and a thorough understanding of the adult safeguarding process particularly changes after the Care Act implementation.
• Experience of identifying risk to adults with care and support needs.
• Experience of instigating protection plans to reduce risk to adults who are at risk.
• Understanding the Mental Capacity Act and how it applies to adult safeguarding.
• Ability to agree outcomes which are person centred and to work towards them in a person centred way
• Able to write detailed and complex reports with accuracy and clarity and be able to use electronic service user records with confidence.
• An understanding of Making Safeguarding Personal

Desirable:
• Has attended available courses relating to adult safeguarding.
• Relevant management or supervisory experience

Other relevant experience and/or interests

Essential:
• Has dealt with people who use our services and their families in highly charged and emotional situations.

Desirable:
• Experience of the criminal justice system.

Specialist knowledge and skills

Essential:
• Knowledge of relevant legislation including:
Mental Capacity Act 2005, incl. DOLS,
Mental Health Act 1983,
Carers Act 1995 and 2000
NHS and Community Care Act 1990
Care Act 2014
• Understanding CQC and their role in safeguarding

Essential:
• Proven ability to manage staff
• Clear and concise communication skills
• Written record keeping and report writing skills
• Good time management, including ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Decision making and problem solving skills
• Ability to use own initiative
• Ability to maintain high professional standard even when working under pressure

Special working conditions

Essential:
• The post holder must possess a full driving license and provide a car for business use. Alternative travel arrangements will be discussed with disabled candidates. Use of a vehicle for work
• Ability to work flexibly and outside of core hours if required to ensure proper discharge of duties
