Job Purpose

As an Internal Payroll Coordinator, you will work closely with the Payroll Manager and team members to process the internal payroll from start to finish. This includes liaising with HR, Rewards & Benefits, and Finance teams, producing monthly reports, reconciling data, and addressing staff queries.

Job Role

  1. Manage the day-to-day administration of staff payroll.
  2. Utilize payroll software efficiently, including import/export functions and report writing.
  3. Process all manual payroll calculations, including salary sacrifice schemes.
  4. Apply knowledge of PAYE/NIC, statutory payments, redundancy, family leave, SSP, etc.
  5. Manage pension schemes, including AE processes and pension uploads to providers' websites.
  6. Handle BACS payments.
  7. Stay updated on payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
  8. Perform payroll reconciliations and analysis proactively.
  9. Liaise with HMRC and assist with technical inquiries as needed.
  10. Use initiative to resolve issues, support team members, and seek advice when necessary.
  11. Develop and maintain relationships with internal contacts at all levels.

Person Specification

  1. Experience in internal payroll or bureau services.
  2. Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and proficiency with payroll software.
  3. Good IT skills, with intermediate Excel skills being essential.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.
  6. Strong numeracy skills.
  7. Attention to detail and accuracy.
  8. Team-oriented attitude and willingness to respond to team requests.
  9. Desire to enhance payroll expertise and knowledge.
