Payroll Specialist (Part-Time)
Manchester
Perm
FTE £30,000 - £40,000 (pro-rata)
Are you an experienced Payroll Specialist looking for a flexible part-time opportunity within a supportive business? Our client is seeking a hands-on, self-sufficient payroll professional to take ownership of their end-to-end payroll function.
This is a part-time role, with flexibility to work 3 full days per week or spread across 4-5 shorter days. Initially, the role will be fully office-based in Manchester, with hybrid options available once established.
The Role
As the sole Payroll Specialist, you'll be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely payroll delivery while also helping the business develop and improve its payroll processes and systems. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a professional payroll service for employees while working closely with the wider HR team on reward and benefits initiatives.
- End-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Managing pension schemes and salary sacrifice arrangements, including upcoming EV schemes.
- Supporting the implementation of new benefits and reward initiatives.
- Optimising payroll systems and processes, finding better ways of working.
- Providing clear, approachable support to employees, explaining pay queries in person.
- Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail to prevent errors.
About You
We're looking for someone with:
- Proven experience running end-to-end payroll independently.
- Strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced).
- Knowledge of salary sacrifice schemes (essential: pension, desirable: EV schemes).
- Experience in reward & benefits would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and process improvement mindset.
- Strong interpersonal skills - approachable, clear, and able to explain payroll to non-specialists.
- A helpful, professional manner with the ability to work in a fast-paced, friendly environment.
Why Join?
This is a fantastic chance to join a friendly organisation with a positive culture. You'll have the opportunity to build and professionalise the payroll service, introduce new benefits, and really make your mark.
