Senior Platform Engineer | Outside IR35 | Hybrid - London

We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join a scaling technology organisation on a contract basis. This role sits within their core engineering foundations team, focused on building reliable, scalable infrastructure and improving the developer experience across the wider engineering function.

The contract

• Up to £550 per day
• Hybrid working: 3 days per week onsite in London, 2 days remote
• Initial term of 3-6 months with strong likelihood of extension

What you’ll be working on

• Designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure (AWS) to support scale and reliability
• Building automation and tooling to accelerate developer workflows
• Enhancing observability, monitoring and security of distributed systems
• Introducing best practices in deployment, scalability and developer productivity
• Experimenting with AI-driven approaches to reduce friction in engineering workflows

The environment

• AWS as the core cloud platform
• Programming in Python, Typescript, and Elixir
• Focus on automation, observability, distributed systems, and developer productivity

What we’re looking for

• Strong background in platform or infrastructure engineering, with experience scaling systems in production
• Proficiency with AWS and infrastructure automation
• Experience building or maintaining developer tooling and pipelines
• Understanding of observability, monitoring, and distributed system challenges
• Collaborative approach with good communication skills
