Offer Description

The Role

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Sociology with a focus on social class, race, and gender. Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council's Secondary Data Analysis Initiative, led by Dr Stephen Ashe, this project offers an intersectional re-reading of foundational sociology data in Britain. The project involves analysing datasets with original interview documents, researcher notes, and supplementary materials digitised at the University of Essex.

The successful applicant will lead thematic qualitative analysis of these materials, support project administration, and contribute to at least four peer-reviewed journal articles, leading the writing of at least one. The role involves starting between January and March 2025, with hybrid working options. In-person meetings in Durham are expected 1-2 times per month, with potential travel for data collection and conference presentations.

This post is fixed term for 12 months, starting in early 2026.
