Primary Design Engineer

Location: Stafford - hybrid working

Salary: Up to 70k

Role Overview

The Primary Design Engineer will be responsible for coordinating with Grid Design Assurance to achieve design approval for various design packs, including:

1. Development of Substation HV layout and elevation designs to Grid standards, with support from a HV Layout CAD specialist.
2. Busbar and connector schedule design development and coordination with suppliers.
3. Interfacing with steelwork manufacturers for HV plant structure design.
4. Specification and OEM technical order clarification for 400kV, 275kV, and 132kV HV plant.
5. Single Line Diagrams creation and review.
6. Below ground/above ground earthing design development in accordance with TS3.1.2 TGNE 187, in collaboration with earthing specialists.
7. Mechanical interlocking design development.
8. MEWP access layout design.
9. Label schedule design.
10. HV cable route design.
11. Participation in bi-weekly internal design review meetings with the Lead Engineer.

Essential Skills and Experience

• HV Plant / Primary Design background.
• Experience with systems up to 400kV and 4000 Amps.
• Knowledge of Grid standards.
