OverviewMott MacDonald is a market leader in the UK water sector, and we are expanding our Water Utilities Division. We are seeking a Principal/Associate Engineering Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams of technical specialists, deliver projects in partnership with clients and contractors, and strengthen relationships to secure further work. This role focuses on UK water and wastewater infrastructure, contributing to delivery in response to AMP8 challenges and leading fast-paced design for leakage, clean water provision, and sewage disposal across client assets. You will coordinate project teams throughout the lifecycle, ensure business management system compliance, provide technical and commercial guidance, manage risk and forecasting, and contribute to bids and proposals. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven professional to develop in technical, management, or client-facing directions within a supportive, employee-owned culture.ResponsibilitiesLead design of innovative and sustainable solutions addressing leakage, clean water provision, and sewage disposal across water utility assets.Coordinate project teams from design definition through implementation; ensure programme and cost control, technical quality assurance, and client interface management.Represent the company in meetings and supervise junior staff, providing technical and commercial guidance to support development.Support commercial success through forecasting, risk management, and the production of bids and proposals.Manage projects in line with AMP8 opportunities and ensure delivery within scope, time, and budget.Ensure adherence to the company’s business management system and regulatory/compliance requirements throughout the project lifecycle.Candidate specificationEssentialQualifications and/or Chartered Status with a recognised project management institution (e.g., Association of Project Management - APM).Demonstrable experience in managing complex large-scale UK water and wastewater projects, delivering to scope, time, and budget.Experience in collaborating with and managing multi-disciplinary teams.Strong communication skills in both oral presentations and written reports.Commitment to professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions.DesirableChartered Status with a recognised Professional Institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, IChemE).Ability to travel to other offices and sites as required.Experience in managing NEC Professional Service Contracts.Good understanding of designers’ responsibilities under CDM.Track record in building capability of junior staff.Experience in preparing bids and client engagement.UK ImmigrationMott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK.
