The role

As a Principal Digital Engineer – Information Management Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a unique opportunity to influence major defence programmes, champion innovation, and make a real impact on national security while advancing your career in a dynamic, purpose‑driven environment.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be the subject matter expert for Information Management, leading a team of digital engineers and driving digital delivery across multiple project streams. You’ll shape the strategic vision for ISO 19650‑compliant information management, ensuring structured data delivery and robust governance.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the strategic vision and delivery of ISO 19650‑compliant Information Management
  • Developing EIRs, AIRs, BEPs, and related documentation for structured data delivery
  • Defining and implementing data governance strategies, including CDE management
  • Collaborating with supply chain, delivery partners, and document control teams to align standards
  • Championing innovation and supporting adoption of emerging technologies

Essential experience

  • Proven experience in data management across large programmes or multi‑project environments
  • Skilled in BIM processes and digital engineering tools, including 4D/5D and digital twins
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing abilities across cross‑functional teams
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in digital delivery and data governance

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification or postgraduate degree in BIM, Information Management, or equivalent experience
