Principal Engineering Manager (Critical Infrastructure and Building Services Integration Lead) – Aldermaston, Berkshire

Salary: £90,000 (depending on suitability and experience)

The Future Materials Campus (FMC) is an infrastructure project delivering seven state-of-the-art facilities to enable nuclear security technologies and science. This is a major undertaking requiring strategic leadership across professional engineering services in support of the CASD Programme and the company’s strategic goals. You will act as Intelligent Client (IC) across the FMC, providing governance and management for built environment advice, policy, standards and information, and ensuring compliance with Nuclear Licence Conditions (LC 19, LC 20 and LC 21), safety codes and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and management of professional engineering services in support of the FMC and CASD programme.
  • Act as focal leadership point and signpost for built environment advice, information and expertise on policy, best practice, knowledge and relevant standards.
  • Ensure governance and management to meet Nuclear Licence Conditions (LC 19, LC 20, LC 21) and applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Chair technical and general meetings; direct work to meet strategic programme demands.
  • Lead multi-discipline groups, resolve conflicts, drive performance and foster collaboration.
  • Apply knowledge of infrastructure and building services from design through commissioning; awareness of DFMA concepts; working in an Intelligent Customer capacity.

Qualifications

  • Strategic Construction, Utilities or New Build leadership experience with line management and delivery of targets, safety standards.
  • Degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent; professional registration at Fellow or Chartered status with a relevant body.
  • Knowledge of Utilities (Power, Data, Steam) and Built Environment (Roads, Grounds).
  • Experience with design and construction contracting (NEC) and commercial aspects.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to chair meetings and direct work to meet programme demands.
  • Strong understanding of safety legislation and standards (e.g., HSE/SAWA, CDM).
  • Experience leading multi-discipline teams, resolving conflicts, and fostering collaboration.
  • Awareness of construction supply chain methodologies including DFMA; experience in an Intelligent Customer role.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure and Building Services from design through commissioning.
