Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. Samsara aims to improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of physical operations that power the global economy across industries such as agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing.
Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team shaping a portfolio of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and Site Visibility. You’ll have autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.
About the role: We’re looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager to take one of our largest and fastest-growing businesses – Video-based Safety – to the next level. Safety is a core reason customers choose Samsara. The features this team builds identify driving risks, provide programmatic access to Samsara’s safety data, and surface risky events to customers to help manage events efficiently. Our team uses AI and diagnostic data to meet customers’ safety needs. Since launching our AI dash cameras in 2019, customers have highlighted the importance of AI capabilities in their purchasing decisions. This role can be office-based or fully remote.
You should apply if:
- You want to impact the industries that run our world: your work will have real-world impact—keeping the lights on, getting food into grocery stores, reducing emissions, and ensuring workers return home safely.
- You’re the architect of your own career: Samsara supports rapid career development and opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper-growth environment.
- You’re energized by our opportunity: our vision to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your focus and ideas for our customers.
- You want to be with the best: you’ll be surrounded by a high-caliber team that encourages you to do your best.
In this role, you will:
- Identify, design and take to market innovative solutions and features in collaboration with Design, Engineering and Marketing.
- Operate in an ‘AI-first’ mindset, utilizing data to build impactful products.
- Be the driving force behind a major product area, shaping its roadmap and owning its success.
- Have a bold vision for the future of our products while also driving execution in detail.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of our customers’ operations, actively seeking feedback, and iterating to deliver value.
- Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional development and adapt your approach as you progress at Samsara.
- Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Obsess Over the Customer, Build for the Long Term, Growth Mindset) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- 8+ years in a product management role.
- History of successfully launching and scaling innovative products.
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science preferred; MS, PhD, or MBA also preferred.
- Strong technical understanding with the ability to establish credibility with engineers.
- Knack for gleaning customer insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
- Bias-to-action with hands-on experience delivering business results; comfortable getting hands dirty.
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting to customers and internal audiences.
- Ability to drive teams of diverse backgrounds to ship features on aggressive timelines.
