Overview

3+ years' PQE. Our dedicated Agricultural & Estates team (a group of more than 40 across the country), working with our Private Client team are seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor who specialises and wishes to play a key part in developing our offering across an agricultural and estates client group. This opportunity would best be supported from one of our "West" offices (Cheltenham, Worcester, Hereford, Wye Valley or Cardiff) as these locations are partnered with our highly experienced tier 1 teams who are both entrenched in and widely regarded across this sector. We are developing a full service, specialised offering to our agriculture and estates client and are looking for the right person with energy and enthusiasm wanting to be on that exciting journey with us.

Our Agriculture & Estates team act for some of the largest landowners in the country, 4 of our clients being within the top 50 landowners in the UK. We are leading the way putting in place agreements to unlock Biodiversity Net Gain. Our land owning clients have renewable energy schemes and strategic land sales with values in excess of £100m. We are consistently ranked top in Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. Furthermore, we have been on the NFU Legal panel since 2009 and have close links to the CLA, with team members sitting on County committees. The team are active members of the Agricultural Law Association, with the Director of Education, Committee members, and 4 Fellows of the Agricultural Law Association. We actively support and encourage engaging with industry groups.

What we need you to do

  • Provide high grade, profitable fee earning support.
  • Advise on and manage a wide range of private client and estate planning and management issues across an agricultural client group including wills, probate, LPAs, trusts, estates and tax.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge on issues within private client, working collaboratively with colleagues across the whole team to share knowledge.
  • Contribute to business development opportunities and identify networking opportunities internally and externally, marketing and cross selling.

About You

  • 3+ years or more PQE
  • STEP qualification or working towards
  • Demonstrable technical ability and excellent drafting skills
  • Able to work flexibly in other HCR offices as required
  • Able to work collaboratively with colleagues and successfully manage client relationships
  • Can demonstrate teamwork and relationship building skills
  • Proactive, ambitious and organised with a keen eye for detail
  • A passion / interest in agricultural client groups and networks
