Chartered Process Engineer (Hybrid | Offshore Certified)
Location: Hybrid – Minimum 3 days/week in office + 2 days WFH
Travel: Regular travel to UK & NL offshore assets and Barrow Terminal
Contract Type: PAYE
Purpose of the Role
As the E&P Process Engineering Authority (EA2), you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding, supporting, and assuring Asset Integrity and Process Safety across all Spirit Energy MH Offshore and Onshore Assets. Acting as an independent evaluator of Process Engineering changes and risks, you will ensure safe and effective delivery of modifications, plant performance improvements, and regulatory compliance across diverse and technically complex operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering authority oversight, including responsibility for key process documents (PFDs, P&IDs, C&E charts, etc.).
- Deliver expert Process Engineering support to capital projects and minor modifications under the Management of Change (MoC) process.
- Act as focal point for day-to-day engineering support across offshore and onshore assets.
- Support investigations into process safety incidents and equipment failures.
- Manage and assure contractor design work including technical documentation and calculations.
- Collaborate across disciplines (TA’s, Asset Integrity, HSE, Production Support) to achieve business objectives.
- Support risk assessments (HAZOP, PHR, LOPA), isolations, SCE backlog deferrals, and deviations from standards.
- Engage in strategic process improvement, innovation, and optimisation of plant performance.
- Play a critical role in asset risk registers, hazard identification, and mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with UK/NL/EU regulations and Spirit Energy’s internal standards.
Scope & Impact
- Oversight over Process and Major Accident Hazard (MAH) prevention onshore and offshore.
- Influence and enable safe and sustainable energy production.
- Deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement across UK and NL assets.
- Engage with a wide range of stakeholders including contractors, maintenance crews, JV partners, and senior leadership.
Required Certifications & Training (Non-Negotiable)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IChemE (MIChemE)
- Valid offshore certifications including:
- BOSIET, MIST, Offshore Medical
- Ability to travel offshore (UK & Netherlands) as part of the role
- Completion of all mandatory Spirit Energy compliance training
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is mandatory
Technical Skills:
- Deep knowledge of UK, NL, and EU safety and engineering legislation
- Expert in process engineering design and analysis (including block diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs, C&E charts, SCEs)
- Proficient in HYSYS, Microsoft Office, SAP PM, PI data historian
- Experienced in managing multiple concurrent workstreams
- Ability to drive plant trials and economically viable improvements
