About the Role
The CPMO Programme Manager will work directly with the CPMO management team, reporting to the Chief Product & Marketing Officer, to deliver several interrelated projects supporting our new publishing initiatives from 2026 onwards.
This role involves creating, leading, and managing a programme to ensure all milestones are on track and target dates are achieved. The Programme Manager is responsible for successful delivery in terms of quality, budget, and scope, including business-critical product launches and sales of new titles. They will assist in building out an overall programme plan, oversee internal resources, and manage risks and issues related to the programme. The role includes line managing a Project Manager and collaborating with wider teams to ensure successful delivery.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the programme requirements and related business benefits on time, within scope, and within budget, working with both Agile and waterfall teams.
- Manage workstreams, create project plans, facilitate progress meetings, track progress, write reports, and communicate with senior stakeholders.
- Line manage a Project Manager for smaller CPMO projects.
- Create, update, and own the programme and release plans, identifying milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, and deliverables.
- Communicate objectives, schedules, budgets, and constraints to all stakeholders, troubleshooting issues promptly.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders, teams, and suppliers to address risks and issues early.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in business change, transformation, digital programmes, or product launches.
- Successful programme delivery experience, especially with Agile/Waterfall hybrid projects.
- Strong leadership, motivation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, self-managed, and solution-oriented approach.
- Good commercial awareness and budget management skills.
- Energetic, driven, approachable personality.
- Knowledge of project management disciplines, publishing, and software development cycles.
- Risk and issue management within complex projects.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Adaptability to fast-paced environments and experience working in global, multi-site teams within a structured publishing environment.
- Experience driving change management projects and working with senior management on strategic initiatives.
