You will be joiningEuropean Energy UK Limited,consisting of20+UK-based colleagues working principally from our office in Glasgow. Your new role
European Energy’ focus in the UK to date has been on development of utility scale solar projects in the UK to date. Our strong pipeline of existing projects are at various levels of maturity and we’re looking for a proactive and driven Project Development Manager to join our UK team to support projects from the inception stage, through consenting and planning condition discharge and preparing them for construction readiness where you will work closely with our in-house EPC team.
You’ll manage and execute end-to-end project development activities, with potential to expand into other renewable technologies. This role is broad and hands-on, offering exposure across technical, commercial, legal, and planning functions.
Areas of Responsibilities
Project Management
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans and timelines
- Monitor project milestones and ensure alignment across internal and external stakeholders
- Support internal reporting and decision-making with clear project updates
Planning & Development
- Coordinate planning applications, environmental assessments, and technical studies
- Manage consultants across planning, environmental, engineering, and legal disciplines
- Ensure compliance with local planning policy and national renewable energy regulations
- Manage community and local stakeholder relations.
Grid Connection
- Manage grid connection offers and associated contracts with network operators
- Liaise with network operators to ensure project timelines and budgets can be delivered
- Oversee technical assessments and manage grid risk during development
Land & Legal
- Identify, assess, and secure suitable land parcels
- Lead negotiations for land agreements including leases, access rights, easements and licenses
- Build and maintain relationships with landowners and legal representatives
- Prepare and manage development budgets
- Collaborate with finance team on project forecasting and cash flow planning
- Support the development and refinement of project financial models
Origination & Feasibility
- Conduct site screening and feasibility analysis using GIS and planning tools
- Research market trends and policy developments
- Prepare investment memos and opportunity assessments for internal review
Your profile
We’re looking for someone with a solid foundation in renewable energy development and a proactive, solution-driven mindset. Ideally, you bring:
- A degree in Engineering, Planning, Environmental Science, Law, Land, or a related field
- 2+ years’ experience in renewable energy or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of the UK project development lifecycle and planning process
- Experience negotiating land agreements for energy or infrastructure projects
- Excellent communication skills – able to convey complex information clearly, both in writing and speaking
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects under time and cost pressures
- A collaborative, diligent approach with strong attention to detail
- Fluency in English and a valid UK driving license
