Base pay range

Project Manager

Salary: £46,200 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Location: Hybrid (based in Cambridge, UK)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Overview

Our client, a specialist consultancy in sensing and detection technologies, is seeking a Project Manager to coordinate and deliver a varied portfolio of technical and research-focused projects. This role involves managing multi-year R&D programmes, technical field trials, and bespoke builds, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with technical leads to scope, plan, and deliver diverse technology-based projects.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, using tools such as MS Project or equivalent.
Act as a key liaison with clients, managing expectations, providing updates, and resolving challenges.
Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
Contribute to bid-writing and forward planning across multiple projects.
Support project delivery logistics and, where necessary, assist with technical tasks (training provided).
Prepare clear, concise project reports and documentation.

Candidate Profile

Experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating complex projects.
Proficiency in project management tools and budget tracking (spreadsheets, PM software).
Interest in technical and scientific subjects, with the ability to grasp core project details.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Flexible and collaborative team member, comfortable in a small, agile environment.
UK nationality or long-standing UK residency (minimum 10 years) required due to nature of work.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Prior experience in sales, consultancy, or government departments.
Background in homeland security, STEM, or technical environments.
Practical skills or hands-on experience in lab or field settings.
Familiarity with quality management (e.g., ISO 9001), PowerBI, or PowerQuery.
Health and safety knowledge for managing practical project risks.
