Base pay range
Job title: Project Manager/ Senior Project Manager
Location: Suited for applicants based in the Norwich, Suffolk, or Essex areas (Hybrid working structure with required travel for onsite visits)
Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 per annum (+ car allowance £5000 per year & full benefits package)
Contract type: Full-time
Role Overview:
Forsyth Barnes are recruiting 2x Project Manager/ Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing and developing a team of Engineers while ensuring seamless information flow between internal teams and key stakeholders. The role also involves promoting and developing engineering schemes through structured governance processes. Stakeholders may include teams such as Asset Health, Leakage, Network Delivery, and Asset Delivery Planning. You will apply your deep understanding of network engineering design, combined with strong commercial awareness, to conduct site-based investigations and develop optimal design solutions across a portfolio of schemes.
You will be responsible for from the outset for your team of Engineers and accountability for delivery within their Pods for each scheme, from design through to delivery by tracking solution delivery, ensuring delivery is safe, to time and budget and that high standards of water quality, quality of work, sustainability and cost control are maintained. You will work alongside Operations teams, Network Partners, and services (networks and supply) teams and feed any learning or improvement opportunities back into the design process
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Engineers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across multiple departments and stakeholders.
- Promote engineering schemes through structured governance processes.
- Conduct comprehensive site investigations to inform and optimise design solutions.
- Identify and capitalise on opportunities to maximise value across different delivery routes.
- Maintain accountability for end-to-end delivery of schemes, from design through implementation, ensuring safety, quality, time, and cost targets are met.
- Engage with partners and internal teams to drive continuous improvement and feedback into design and delivery cycles.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Degree or Higher National qualification (BTEC or equivalent) in an engineering or relevant technical discipline.
- Strong background in identifying and managing new business or project opportunities.
- SMSTS certification and NRSWA Supervisor training (or willingness to obtain).
- Contract management and site supervision experience (desirable).
- Extensive experience in water engineering or comparable infrastructure project planning/design/delivery.
- Deep understanding of water distribution systems and operations.
- Strategic thinking with ability to influence future direction.
- Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance.
- High level of commercial awareness and operational insight.
- Ability to balance engineering requirements with service delivery needs.
- Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and the ROV process (desirable).
