Are you an enthusiastic nurse, either established or a newly qualified looking to grow your career in the Children and Young People sector? Our supportive West Dorset Locality team (covering areas Lyme, Bridport, Beaminster and Maiden Newton) would love to hear from you!

As a Public Health Staff Nurse 0 - 19, you will participate in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and will work in partnership with children, young people and families in environments such as family hubs, clinic settings, family’s homes and schools including early years settings. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and packages of care to people on an allocated caseload; promoting independence and autonomy; working within a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and work with children, young people and families in family hubs, clinics, homes, schools and early years settings.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and packages of care for individuals on an allocated caseload.
  • Promote independence and autonomy and work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Work as part of the CYP Public Health Service 0–19 and respond to identified needs including safeguarding and supporting children, young people and families using evidence-based, early intervention strategies.
  • Maintain good working relationships with partners, colleagues and community organisations and provide health advice regarding the management and care of clients/service users.
  • Evaluate care and take appropriate action to improve quality standards; work autonomously under the guidance of the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse and support/train junior team members including students.

Requirements and Benefits

  • The role is part-time, 22.5 or 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Hours can be flexible (condensed or shorter hours across five days); this can be discussed at interview. Hybrid working with remote home working and locality coverage in Weymouth and Portland.
  • There are career pathways and opportunities for continuing professional development, a comprehensive and structured induction programme, and a preceptorship programme for newly qualified nurses.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK without the need for Skilled Worker sponsorship. Applications from candidates requiring sponsorship are ineligible.
  • Employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
