Python Engineer + LLMs - London | Hybrid (3 days max onsite) £70,000 - £85,000

NearTech is working with a fast-moving FinTech investing heavily in generative AI, and they’re now hiring a Python Engineer with LLM experience to join a predominately product-led, engineering-first team shaping internal AI tools from the ground up.

(N.B. This role has also been advertised as an AI software engineer but is a better fit for an outstanding Python engineer who has moved into the AI space or tinkered with LLMs. The company is not looking for out-and-out data scientists / MLEs at this time.)

You’ll build back-end systems in Python that connect seamlessly with LLMs, data pipelines, and modern microservices. This isn’t a research role; you’ll be shipping code into live environments, owning features, and helping define how GenAI gets used in real-world business tooling. Candidates should have a few years’ experience shipping in production.

Responsibilities

• Python back-end services that interface with LLMs
• RAG pipelines / conversational (Chatbot assistants)
• Containerised deployments, CI/CD, and MLOps workflows
• Scalable APIs and microservices

What they're looking for

• Deep Python (Django / Flask) engineering experience (ideally 5+ years)
• Hands-on use of LLMs and GenAI (production experience 1+ years)
• Familiarity with MLOps and MLOps tooling
• Exposure to either of the big three cloud providers
