Blue Light Card. Individually great, together unstoppable
The Role and the Team
At Blue Light Card, we create meaningful digital experiences for the everyday heroes who keep our communities safe, cared for, and thriving. Quality is central to everything we do, and as we grow, we are shaping a QA practice that enables our teams to move faster, safer, and with greater confidence.
We’re at the beginning of that journey, offering an exciting opportunity for multiple QA Engineers to help define what quality looks like at BLC. Reporting to the QA Engineering Manager, you’ll go beyond writing tests, contribute to best practices, foster a culture of quality, and help define our collaborative processes across teams.
Collaboration is key; we partner closely with the Product team within an agile squad structure, focusing on outcomes like share of wallet, personalization, member growth & engagement, and platform evolution.
What You’ll Do
- Write and maintain automated tests across web, mobile, and backend systems to ensure confident delivery.
- Design clear, practical test case scenarios and collaborate with engineers to develop robust, reusable tests.
- Coach and support engineering teams on testing strategies, quality standards, and tooling.
- Integrate functional and non-functional testing into CI/CD workflows and development plans.
- Monitor production systems using observability tools to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Contribute to the evolution of testing frameworks to scale QA capabilities as we grow.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through sharing insights, leading retrospectives, and refining workflows.
- Take ownership of quality within your squads, advocating for team members, impact, and long-term reliability.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in designing, writing, and reviewing tests that focus on meaningful outcomes beyond mere coverage.
- Confidence in creating test scenarios and translating them into automated tests.
- Familiarity with testing responsive websites, mobile apps, and APIs.
- A people-focused mindset, supporting others to improve quality in their code.
- Knowledge of non-functional testing (performance, usability, observability) and its application.
- Ability to work collaboratively within agile squads alongside Product and Engineering teams.
- Awareness of compliance, security, and accessibility considerations in testing.
- Experience working in fast-paced tech environments with a passion for continuous improvement.
