About the role
Balfour Beatty is currently looking for a Quality Assurance Advisor to join our Regional Buildings team based in Birmingham.
What you'll be doing
As a Quality Assurance Advisor, you'll support right first time delivery, external quality certification processes, and drive the elimination of waste, right first time philosophy, and reduction in the cost of quality through:
- Supporting the delivery of Contract, Business Unit, and SBU Quality Action Plans
- Supporting and facilitating quality management planning (including contract quality plans and test and inspection plans)
- Understanding site needs and developing effective quality control processes
- Examining the quality of raw materials used in installations to match specifications
- Understanding performance requirements and needs from PFP products
- Understanding the design philosophy regarding PFP in a hospital environment
- Ensuring the correct product is used to follow design intent
- Ensuring best practices and continual improvement of installations
- Collaborating with the Supply Chain team to set quality benchmarks
- Identifying quality control processes to ensure standards are met and recorded
- Supporting quality-related improvement initiatives
- Providing advice and coaching on quality issues
- Supporting quality-related training for Supply Chain and Piers
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Knowledge of ASFP, BS, and EN standards regarding PFP
- Commitment to Quality Management
- Experience with Intrusive Surveys
- Attention to detail – right first-time philosophy
- Good interpersonal skills for communication with Subcontractors
- Ability to build strong relationships with delivery teams and Subcontractors
- CQI Practitioner or willingness to work towards this
- Proficiency with modern office systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, BIM 360, OpenSpace)
Desirable qualities include:
- Knowledge of the sector in which the role operates
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and Internal Audit
- Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate facts
- Attention to detail and commitment to completion
