Rate: Competitive (Outside IR35)
Hours: Full-time – 40 hrs/week (5 days) or 32 hrs/week (4 days)

Are you a registered Building Inspector with Class 2D status under the Building Safety Regulator? Do you have strong experience with local authority building control services and want to contribute to a collaborative, multi-council partnership?
A well-established shared service partnership covering several Midlands local authorities is seeking a Registered Building Inspector (RBI) to support its team during a key period. The role offers flexible working, a supportive hybrid model, and the opportunity to make an immediate impact on a varied and interesting local authority workload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site inspections and record outcomes using Uniform software
- Check plans, discharge conditions, assess amendments, and make Full Plans decisions
- Investigate dangerous structures and undertake enforcement actions
- Manage Building Regulation compliance issues, including unauthorised works
- Provide pre-application advice and respond to general public enquiries professionally
- Write clear reports, correspondence, and decisions understandable by all duty holders
About You:
- Registration: 2D
- Experience: Solid background in plan checking and site inspections across domestic, residential, and low-risk commercial builds
- Able to manage statutory duties and make complex decisions within registration scope
- ICT-literate and comfortable using Uniform, inspection apps, and electronic plan checking (training on systems provided)
- Strong communicator with a customer-focused approach
- Preferred: Previous experience with dangerous structures
