At Family Action we support people through change, challenge or crisis. It’s what we’ve done for over 150 years. We protect children, support young people and adults and offer direct, practical help to families and communities.
We see first-hand the power of family to shape lives, for better or worse, so we speak up for the
importance of family in national and local policymaking, amplify family voices and represent the changing needs of families in the UK today.
At Relate, we have been supporting relationships and mental wellbeing for over 80 years. Now, as part of the Family Action family, we are growing stronger than ever — and we want you to grow with us.
We are looking for passionate, qualified Relationship Practitioners to deliver high-quality, impactful therapy that transforms lives. If you are committed to making a difference and want to join a nationally recognised organisation with the support and support of Family Action, we would love to hear from you.
As we are looking to offer more evening appointments to meet client demand, applicants must be available to deliver sessions during weekday evenings.
Main Responsibilities:
As a Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, effective therapeutic support to individuals, couples, and families. You will work collaboratively with clients to help them explore challenges, strengthen relationships, and improve emotional wellbeing. In addition to direct client work, you will maintain accurate and timely records, contribute to safeguarding processes, and ensure that all work meets professional and ethical standards.
Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
• Level 5 qualification in Relationship Counselling
• Compassion, professionalism, and adaptability.
• The ability to work with clients from all backgrounds.
• Commitment to ethical practice, diversity, and inclusion.
• Confidence delivering therapy across multiple formats (face-to-face, online, telephone).
• Appointments are subject to Family Action receiving a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service - Enhanced
Benefits:
• A supportive, collaborative environment where your wellbeing and professional development are prioritised.
• A diverse, inclusive workplace where every practitioner’s unique skills and experience are valued.
• Flexible working options — including remote delivery, face-to-face sessions, and hybrid working.
• Ongoing CPD opportunities, regular supervision, and access to specialist training.
• Up to 6% matched-pension contributions
• Eye care and winter flu jabs vouchers
• Cycle to work scheme
• Investing in your professional development with ongoing quality training and career development opportunities
We are forward looking, ambitious and committed to continuous improvement. We are a people focused, can-do organisation, which strives for excellence in all we do and operates with mutual respect.
