The role
As a Remote Operations Centre Geophysicist, you will work as part of the team within the state-of-the-art Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Aberdeen. The ROC supports offshore operations utilizing innovative technology and protocols from our onshore facility. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of an innovative working approach at Fugro, helping ensure we remain industry leaders.
Your responsibilities include:
- Acquisition, quality control, interpretation, and analysis of marine geophysical data
- Geohazard assessment and integration of geophysical, environmental, and geotechnical data
- Generation of client deliverables as part of the Marine Site Characterization Client Deliverables team
- Working in rotational shifts (3 weeks on, 3 weeks off, then 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off)
Who we’re looking for:
We seek an individual who holds a Bachelor’s or MSc in Geophysics, Geology, or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have:
- Understanding of geophysical equipment and methods used in shallow marine environments
- Knowledge of data interpretation, mapping, visualization, and plotting software
- Practical field experience with marine geophysical surveys, including data acquisition, quality control, and interpretation of side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, and magnetometer data
- Proficiency with Sonarwiz, Kingdom Suite, Oasis Montaj, and ArcGIS is desirable
Willingness to relocate to Aberdeen and work in a regular onshore position within the Remote Operations Centre.
