About the role
The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust as part of the Climate Change Resilient Equitable Healthy Cities in Africa (CLARITY‑Africa) Programme to assess heat exposure and associated health impacts in outdoor workers in Ghana and Rwanda.
The post evaluates climate-related equitable and sustainable adaptation measures. To mitigate the health impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations in Sub‑Saharan African cities.
What you would be doing
You will:
- Plan and undertake environmental and/or physiological measurement campaigns in outdoor workers in Accra and Kigali to assess heat exposure and biological and cognitive responses.
- Develop and administer questionnaires to collect exposure, outcome and contextual information and conduct appropriate statistical analyses.
- Manage, curate, clean, analyse and present high‑dimensional data relating to environmental health.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of knowledge co‑creation workshops in Ghana and Accra.
What we are looking for
You should have:
- A PhD in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Health, Environmental Epidemiology, Biomedical Sciences or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
- Experience of developing own research projects related to environmental exposures and health.
- Practical experience of conducting research in occupational settings.
- Experience of dealing and effectively communicating with study participants, stakeholders and sponsors.

Further Information
This is a full‑time post (35 hours per week).
This role is for a fixed‑term contract for 24 months.
