We are seeking an experienced and motivated Revenues Business Consultant to join our growing Professional Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of council tax and business rates software services across the UK. This role is based in the London office with a hybrid working model (3 days per week from home).You’ll be working with clients to implement best practices, deliver tailored consultancy and training, and support ongoing optimisation of MRI’s Revenues solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and impactful projects, ranging from straightforward account fixes to full-scale software conversions.As part of our Professional Services team, you’ll also be eligible for participation in our Professional Services Bonus Scheme, which rewards high performance and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality training to new and existing customers on MRI’s Revenues & Benefits software.
Conduct on-site and remote consultancy, including data checking, software configuration, and go-live support.
Provide subject matter expertise in Council Tax and/or Business Rates, guiding clients through challenging scenarios and system improvements.
Support customers with data cleansing, data extraction (e.g., for Freedom of Information requests), and the preparation of management returns.
Lead or contribute to the planning and execution of software conversions and upgrades.
Assist in the creation and delivery of end-of-year process webinars, seminars, and documentation.
Investigate customer-reported issues in detail, provide resolutions or workarounds, and communicate updates effectively.
Produce bespoke reports and insights using knowledge of system architecture and database structures.
Maintain and improve customer-facing training and reference documentation.
Collaborate with internal teams, including development and support, to escalate and resolve technical issues.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with Council Tax or Business Rates software, preferably MRI (formerly Academy / Capita One).
Strong understanding of local government revenue processes and regulatory requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.
Capable of managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining high quality.
Technically minded, with experience in system interfaces and database reporting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience delivering software training and user workshops.
Knowledge of public sector data standards and audit/compliance frameworks.
Familiarity with SQL or data query/reporting tools.
An enthusiastic, proactive approach to client engagement.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Willingness to travel across the UK when required.
