We are seeking a versatile and proactive Handyman/Groundsman Estate Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of a private estate. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skill set in property maintenance, landscaping, and minor repairs, and will ensure that all aspects of the estate are maintained to the highest standard. This role requires initiative, discretion, and strong organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Property & Grounds Maintenance

  • Maintain the gardens, lawns, driveways, and external features of the estate, including planting, pruning, mowing, and landscaping tasks.
  • Oversee irrigation systems, pest control, and general outdoor maintenance.
  • Ensure pathways, fences, gates, and other exterior structures are in good condition.

Repairs & Handyman Duties

  • Carry out minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting repairs.
  • Maintain and repair estate buildings, including sheds, garages, and other outbuildings.
  • Identify potential issues before they become serious problems and recommend solutions.

Vehicle & Equipment Management

  • Operate and maintain estate vehicles, lawnmowers, and other machinery safely.
  • Schedule servicing and repairs for all equipment as required.

Estate Management

  • Monitor the overall condition of the property and report significant issues to the owner.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialized work.
  • Maintain records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and inventory of tools and materials.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Keep the estate free from hazards and maintain proper safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in property maintenance, landscaping, or a similar handyman role.
  • Practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work.
  • Ability to operate machinery safely and maintain tools.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of discretion, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing private estates or large properties.
  • Certifications in relevant trades (electrical, plumbing, landscaping).
  • First aid and health & safety training.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible working hours, including weekends and occasional evenings as required. (out of hours if needed)
  • Physical work in outdoor conditions.
  • Interaction with contractors, suppliers, and the estate owner.
