Methods Analytics is recruiting for a Technical Architect to join our team on a permanent basis. This role is largely remote but requires flexibility for travel to client sites and our offices in London, Sheffield, and Bristol.
Salary range: £70,000 - £90,000

Responsibilities
- Specialise in cloud platforms, applications, data, and supporting infrastructure.
- Collaboration with delivery team across projects, translating data into valuable insights for transformation programmes.
- Translate business problems into technical designs, creating optimal solutions through iterative processes.
- Advocate the business benefit of data standards, championing governance across projects and the organisation.
- Recognise and exploit business opportunities to ensure efficient and effective organisational performance, setting architecture standards.
- Develop an overall perspective on business issues, determining patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps, and vision statements.
- Make and guide effective decisions, explaining how decisions were reached and resolving technical disputes at varying complexity and risk levels.
- Communicate across organisational, technical, and political boundaries, simplifying complex technical information for non‑technical audiences.
- Expose data from systems (e.g., APIs), link data from multiple systems, and deliver streaming services.
- Ensure deployment risks are understood and documented.
Ideal Candidate
- Ability to look beyond immediate technical problems and identify wider implications.
- Solid experience in a range of technologies and ability to make assessments for projects and the organisation.
- Experience in designing technical services and selecting from core digital platforms.
- Strong experience in software development, release management, and technical governance.
- Infrastructure design experience for on‑prem and cloud, implementing or migrating to Azure and AWS.
- Experience in functional and non‑functional testing, including automated deployment.
- Knowledge of Government Digital Service manual and standards across Discovery/Alpha/Beta/Live phases.
- Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS technologies and their implications.
- Effective communication across organisational, technical, and political boundaries.
- Ability to simplify complex technical information for non‑technical audiences.
- Translate technical concepts, advocate, and communicate functions to create trust and authenticity.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Attention to detail and ability to QA own and others’ work.
- Provide training, support, and mentoring to the wider business.
- Stay up to date with advances in data services and architectural practices.
- Document deployment risks adequately.
Requirements
- Minimum certification of AZ-900 & AZ-104 required; AZ-305 desirable.
- Exposure to high‑performance, low‑latency or large‑volume data systems (≥1 billion records).
- Ability to make and guide effective decisions, explaining reasoning.
- Resolve technical disputes across varying levels of complexity and risk.
- Design or operate Azure/AWS hosted analytics applications, databases, or services, including Machine Learning.
- Worked as part of multi‑disciplinary project teams, e.g., collaboration with UX.
Security Clearance
UKSV clearance required for this role, with Security Check (SC) as the minimum standard.
