Overview
Our client, a leading UK-based financial and digital services organisation, is seeking a Senior Accessibility Consultant to join their User-Centred Design (UCD) team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accessibility specialist passionate about creating inclusive digital experiences. The successful candidate will shape and implement accessibility strategies across digital platforms, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and fostering inclusive design principles across the organisation.
This role is ideal for an experienced professional who has delivered accessibility improvements in large, complex organisations and enjoys working collaboratively with cross-functional digital teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct accessibility assessments and reviews across all stages of design and development, from low-fidelity prototypes to fully coded products.
- Act as an accessibility subject matter expert (SME), guiding design, content, development, and testing teams in creating inclusive user journeys and components.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including Product Designers, UX Writers, Researchers, and Product Owners.
- Consult on the design system, ensuring accessibility standards are embedded in all reusable components.
- Develop and deliver training, guidelines, and learning resources to upskill teams in inclusive design practices.
- Provide expert advice in accessibility-focused working groups, forums, and committees.
- Support inclusive user research, ensuring diverse accessibility needs are represented throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience conducting accessibility audits and usability evaluations.
- Strong understanding of WCAG guidelines, accessibility principles, and global accessibility standards.
- Experience supporting digital product teams in design, content, development, and testing.
- Working knowledge of assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers, voice recognition).
- Knowledge of accessibility and usability requirements for users with sensory, cognitive, or motor impairments.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy skills.
- A passion for inclusive design and driving accessibility improvements in digital environments.
- Competitive salary: £65,000–£70,000 (dependent on experience and location).
- Annual bonus: up to 10% of salary (based on performance).
