The Role:

The Senior Account Manager is a pivotal client-facing role responsible for leading the operational management of key client accounts and overseeing the successful development and delivery of complex, high-impact medical education and communication programs. This role requires a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, exceptional client management skills, proactivity and the ability to drive efficient execution of solutions that facilitate scientific exchange and improve healthcare professional understanding.

The Senior Account Manager acts as a trusted partner to clients and a key operational leader within the internal Client Services team, ensuring seamless collaboration and superior client satisfaction, supported by a Client Services Director, Account Director and Account Executive.

Role & Responsibilities:

The Senior Account Manager proactively manages key client accounts, ensuring the efficient and effective execution of medical education and communication programs. They serve as the primary operational point of contact for clients, guiding them through project lifecycles, in terms of process, timelines and production, ensuring the delivery of scientifically accurate and high-quality solutions.

  • Build and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with client contacts, acting as a trusted partner and where applicable, identifying opportunities for account growth and expansion.
  • Oversee the end-to-end development and delivery of multi-faceted, and/or highly complex medical education and communication programs, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop comprehensive project briefs that accurately capture scientific and educational objectives, guiding the project from initiation to completion.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients and internal cross-functional teams (scientific, creative, project management, digital), fostering efficient collaboration and ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and informed on project status and requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate client meetings, presentations, and workshops, effectively communicating project updates, managing expectations, and securing necessary approvals for project progression.
  • Critically review all deliverables, including scientific content, educational materials, and digital platforms, ensuring they meet scientific accuracy, compliance guidelines, and the highest standards of quality before client delivery.
  • Anticipate potential operational challenges, proactively identify solutions, and resolve issues efficiently to ensure smooth project progression and client satisfaction.
  • Proactively manage project scope, budgets, and profitability for assigned accounts. Monitor project financials, prepare regular reports, and ensure all billing and invoicing are accurate and timely.
  • Monitor program outcomes, gather relevant data, and prepare reports on project performance, identifying areas for operational improvement and efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior account team members, assisting with their day-to-day tasks and contributing to their operational understanding and professional development.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or a related scientific field. A Master's degree or advanced scientific degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive experience in account management within a medical communications or medical education agency setting.

Skills:

  • Level of English: Fluent.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools: Especially Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of project management or CRM tools will be considered a plus.
  • Communication: Both written and spoken, with an emphasis on clarity and precision in scientific and project contexts.
  • Comprehensive and Current Knowledge: Of the medical communications agency's offerings, healthcare industry trends, and relevant compliance regulations (e.g., GPP, PhRMA, ABPI).
  • Ability to Understand Client Needs: And effectively manage project scope, timelines, and budgets.
