Senior Analyst – SSE Renewables
Base Location: Flexible UK – preferred sites: Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Reading, London, Dublin or other key UK/Ireland locations.
Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 per annum (EUR 65,300 – 97,900) plus performance‑related bonus and a range of benefits covering finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent – Full Time or Part‑time, Flexible – various start dates available.
The Role
SSE Renewables aims to triple our renewable generation output to 30 TWh by 2030. As a Senior Analyst you will lead the development of innovative analysis and strategy that underpin winning bids for large renewable projects across the UK, Ireland and international markets.
Responsibilities
- Develop in‑house models and dashboards for regions and technologies to analyse electricity markets and competitors.
- Provide detailed commercial analysis and insights to maximise portfolio value.
- Investigate competitive landscapes for tenders (CfD, Capacity Market, NESO), model auction dynamics and perform probability analyses to inform strategy.
- Collaborate with technical, financial and commercial teams to identify improvement opportunities and optimise market strategies.
- Support governance, reporting and presentations for executives while championing innovation, continuous improvement and a commercial culture.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with experience in Python, Excel modelling and Power BI dashboards.
- Deep commercial acumen, understanding market and auction dynamics, and ability to perform probabilistic analysis in dynamic environments.
- Ability to interpret and reconcile multiple data sources, presenting results clearly and concisely.
- Solid financial modelling skills – understanding revenue‑cost trade‑offs, risks, sensitivities and project design implications.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, collaborative mindset, with a degree in Economics, Maths, Business, Accounting or a related field; experience in game theory or auction modelling is desirable.
