The Role

Hybrid Working

We are very proud to offer one of the most flexible hybrid working arrangements in the industry! The expectation for this role, will involve a minimum of one day each month - working out of our London Bridge office.

Key Accountabilities

  • Asset & Liability Management
    • Oversight and management of all Treasury investments, day-to-day cash management, cash flow forecasting and all electronic banking systems including interactions with the Bank of England and liquidity buffers
    • Monitoring and execution of liquid asset programmes in accordance with Treasury policies and risk limits
    • Prepare key analysis and insight for the annual review of the ILAAP, including forecasts and liquidity stress tests.
    • Identify key assumptions, model their implications and examine how they change under sensitivity analysis.
    • Oversight of cash related activities including the security and control of payments
  • Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) Management
    • Closely monitor and model the bank’s exposure to IRRBB, both current and projected.
    • Assist the CFO and Treasurer with IRRBB management and developing and implementing effective hedging strategies.
    • Prepare key analysis and insight for the IRRBB Pillar 2A assessment in the ICAAP.
    • Regularly review key assumptions for IRRBB and the impact on Treasury Strategy.
    • Develop proposals for Treasury investments and execute trades in line with governance and approval processes
  • Strategic planning and stakeholder management
    • Provide Treasury forecasting and sensitivities to support firm-wide strategic planning and assessment of new products
    • Assist with the annual production of the ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery Plan documents
    • Develop ideas for improving Treasury practices and policies, including new ways of working, new investment categories and possibilities for a new Treasury ALM system
    • Help manage external bank relationships
    • Help to raise the profile of Treasury within Zempler.
  • Governance and Reporting
    • Act as secretariat for the Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO) and be responsible for co-ordinating and circulating the monthly ALCO packs
    • Oversee the production of the daily Treasury Management System (TMS) report and the provision of broader monthly Treasury-related data.
    • Run daily and month end reporting
    • Drive the further development of liquidity metrics and the automation of TMS daily reports
    • Be a recognised subject matter expert on technical aspects of Treasury operations and identify and communicate the potential impact of any relevant regulatory consultations
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Manage one Treasury Assistant (Future Hire), providing support, mentoring, and guidance in their development and training.
    • Engage with professional development courses and Webinars
    • Participate in company-wide and industry-wide networking events, conferences and workshops.

You’ll Need to Have

  • Experience in working in a banking environment
  • Experience with providing analytical insights to optimise business performance
  • Familiarity with capital and liquidity concepts and regulations
  • Knowledge of UK banking regulations, including the UK CRR and Basel III.
  • Experience in managing audits and Treasury review processes.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of Treasury operations.
  • A strong interest in automation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex Treasury-related issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a small team.
  • Expertise in using Excel and other Treasury reporting tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Additional certifications or memberships in professional organizations (e.g. ACT/CIMA/ACA/ACCA/CFA).
  • Understanding of asset-liability management (ALM) practices, particularly the IRRBB framework
  • Experience in contributing to ILAAP and ICAAP processes, providing key inputs related to liquidity risk, stress testing and interest rate risk management.
  • Coding experience with SQL or Python
  • Easy-going nature and able to communicate with different departments.
