We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join a cross-functional infrastructure engineering team that enables product teams to deliver high-impact solutions faster. In this role, you will bridge engineering and DevOps, owning core services, enforcing best practices, and building internal tooling to optimize development workflows. You will collaborate with multiple teams, contribute to system design, and troubleshoot high-load, complex systems. This is a remote position across EMEA, offering both freedom and responsibility in a fast-paced, innovative environment where your work directly impacts the platform\'s scalability, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain high-load backend services with Node.js, ensuring reliability and performance
- Collaborate with DevOps and product teams to enforce standards, best practices, and architectural guidance
- Develop internal tooling, libraries, and frameworks to streamline engineering workflows
- Respond to production incidents and troubleshoot complex system issues across distributed environments
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from discovery to deployment, contributing to system design and implementation
- Coordinate projects and initiatives across multiple engineering teams to achieve business and technical goals
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in backend engineering
- Strong expertise in Node.js and experience building scalable backend services
- Proficiency with AWS or similar cloud environments
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker
- Familiarity with relational databases (Postgres/MySQL) and messaging systems (RabbitMQ/NATS/Kafka)
- Strong system design, problem-solving skills, and the ability to tackle complex, "unknown" challenges
- Excellent communication skills to orchestrate initiatives across 20+ teams
- Hands-on troubleshooting ability and readiness to handle production incidents

- Previous work on developer platforms or infrastructure libraries
