Senior Category Buyer
Location: Aley Green, England, United Kingdom
A great opportunity has arisen to join the Electronics Procurement Category Management team. We are looking for an experienced Senior Category Buyer to join our electronics and interconnect & cable assemblies category. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier and stakeholder relationships.
What you’ll do:
- Define and implement your own category strategies.
- Analyze the spend categories managed by the company, considering their impact on the business and category complexity, and identify potential actions for each category.
- Develop strategic sourcing of suppliers with a focus on continuous improvement, aiming to reduce costs, ensure delivery compliance, and maintain high supply quality.
- Oversee suppliers and subcontractors at the program/Line of Business (LoB) level, verifying compliance with contractual terms regarding performance, deadlines, and quality, and monitor the progress of supply contracts, identifying critical issues and defining recovery plans.
What we need from you:
You really must have:
- Experience in defining and implementing category strategies.
- Support in strategic Make or Buy (MoB) decisions, including product development, vertical integration, and M&A strategies.
- Ability to conduct risk analysis for purchases to mitigate and prevent risks.
- Support in defining and applying offset strategies based on supply market knowledge.
- Support the sales team in developing cost-effective external offers.
- Analyze spend categories, their impact on business, and category complexity to identify potential actions.
- Determine the optimal number and mix of suppliers per region and category objectively.
- Collaborate with other company functions to provide purchasing solutions for internal requests.
- Analyze market trends per product category and perform business intelligence to enhance supplier market knowledge.
- Apply relevant sourcing strategies by macrocategory.
- Support tactical MoB decisions to address production capacity issues and activate operational procurement if needed.
- Oversee supplier and subcontractor performance, verifying contractual compliance and addressing critical issues with recovery plans.
- Define long-term sourcing strategies with suppliers, with support from the Procurement Program Manager.
- Monitor supply contract progress and resolve critical issues proactively.
