Senior Chatbot Developer – Remote Prototype
New Today
This role involves developing a sentiment-sensitive chatbot prototype for a healthcare-focused application. The chatbot must engage users with empathy, ask thoughtful questions, and suggest actionable solutions while collecting structured data. The system should detect sentiment from both text and voice inputs, adapt its responses accordingly, and remember previous user interactions to foster trust. Accessibility is a priority, with support for multiple languages and low-literacy users. The prototype must comply with GDPR standards, explicitly request user consent for data storage, and provide clear escalation pathways for safeguarding concerns. The engagement is short-term, remote, and may lead to future opportunities based on the success of the prototype trial.
Deliverables
- Design and develop a functional prototype of a sentiment-aware chatbot for healthcare use.
- Implement multimodal interaction (text and voice) with sentiment detection and adaptive response logic.
- Integrate features for empathetic, supportive conversation, including reflective listening and permission-based prompts.
- Enable the chatbot to remember and reference previous user interactions.
- Ensure the chatbot can provide actionable tips and surface relevant content during conversations.
- Build secure, GDPR-compliant data collection and storage workflows, including explicit consent mechanisms.
- Develop accessible UX for users with varying literacy levels and language needs.
- Prepare the prototype for trial deployment and feedback collection.
Requirements
- Proven experience developing conversational AI or chatbot solutions, preferably in healthcare or sensitive domains.
- Strong proficiency in natural language processing, sentiment analysis, and voice recognition technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to design empathetic, user-centric conversational flows.
- Deep understanding of GDPR and best practices for data privacy and consent management.
- Experience with multimodal interfaces (text and voice) and accessibility standards.
- Ability to deliver high-quality prototypes within tight timelines.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Based in the UK or able to work UK hours preferred; remote work supported.
