Overview The Senior Engineer defines and distributes of the scope of work to ensure that the project is executed safely, on time and at appropriate levels of quality. The Senior Engineer is responsible for the delivery of design and engineering to meet the requirements technical specification. Responsibilities
Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification. Production of design deliverables throughout the design process. Checking/approval of discipline specific design deliverables. Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews. Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process. Compliance with safety legislation and statutory regulations. Develop cost effective technical solutions. Staff development. Managing safety by developing and reinforcing the safety culture. Management of contractors. Provide technical consultancy.
Qualifications
Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience. Working towards, or already have, Chartership in a discipline specific engineering institution. Detailed knowledge of the specification and design of electric overhead travelling cranes and mechanical handling equipment. Experience of the design of electric overhead travelling cranes to BS EN 13001 and BS 2573. Strong understanding of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline. Previous experience of working within the nuclear industry. Proven track record of successfully delivering design solutions. Understanding of design requirements to support nuclear safety cases. Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations. Strong organisational and interpersonal skills. Good level of commercial awareness. Experience of leading design teams. Experience of managing sub-contracts.
Desirable
Experience of the specification of mobile cranes. Full membership of a discipline specific engineering institution. A full UK driving licence. Experience of bid preparation.
